Ninja (NinjaDeathStrike)Psychic (+2 Int, -1 Str)Age: 22 Level 50Max HP (Con x5) = 113 Str = 10 Con = 22 (+6) Int = 58 (60) (+25) (+1 Red Scarf, Redwood City Medal)Dex = 10 (+0) Cha = 11 (12) (+1) (+1 Vermilion City Medal)Back-story: Ninja is of average height. He has broad shoulders, but it otherwise slim. He has longer black hair that usually partially obscures his grayblue eyes. His normal dress is an inconspicuous outfit of jeans with a plain black t-shirt.
Ninja has developing psychic abilities and enjoys using Ghost and Dark type pokemon. He tends to keep to himself. He had a seemingly normal upbringing until he moved out of his parents house without warning at 17. He hasn't talked to them since. He is thoughtful, but extremely sarcastic. Ninja has a passing interest in the Pokemon League, but knows he'll never win there. He more interested in figuring out his place in the world. He has a dark secret which he keeps from even his friends and often feels out of place in social groups.
During his journey in Kanto Ninja first met Zero who he got along well with. The two ending up joining a secret organization known as Kitsune. While they were working undercover for this group, Ninja met Faye who he found out was out to stop Kitsune by reading her mind. Ninja kept a close eye on her...until the two were killed fighting Oni, another gang. Ninja and Faye were sent to the underworld together, and Ninja revealed his motivations. Upon being revived, Zero distanced himself from Ninja and eventually ruined his own life. Feeling pity for both of his friends, Ninja put together a plan to help them both. Aiming to get revenge on Oni, Kitsune, and the dark god Giratina who had destroyed Zero. Over the following weeks the trio worked towards their goal, often clashing. They also began to work more with Mike and Sean who were on their own journeys. The group was eventually successful. Zero became champion and Faye and Ninja ended up together. Haunted by dreams of the underworld, they journey to Iilac seeking a cure for their nightmares.

Journal (coming to America): America, the land of opportunity. What opportunities await me here I’m not sure, but so far…I dislike this place. The air here is different. I noticed my psychic powers fading as we grew nearer, the place has a different aura that my mind is not used to. I failed to read someone’s mind for the first time in months today. All the food is greasy, or dirty. The people are ignorant and many of them treat me like I’m retarded. It even smells bad. Like piss and horses.
I never imagined it would be like this when I left Japan. Faye and I woke early that morning and packed up our meager possessions for the trip. Faye decided to wear the yellow tan top she had bought a few weeks back, which she looked very good in. I said my goodbye quickly to Zero, not wanting to linger on it. There was no reason. I wished him luck, I know he’ll be fine on his own, and he’ll have the whole house to himself. I was surprised how many of the others decided to come as well. Mike obviously, but Hakai and Sean too. We even ran into Nathan at the dock, though I forgot his name until someone else said it. I guess he had been in Hoenn, he mentioned something about some bad thing that happened to him there, but I didn’t hear most of it as I was busy buying tickets. Together we all boarded the ship and set sail for America.
The journey was long and our cabin rather cramped. Still, being near the sea always helps me relax, and having Faye nearby helped as well. Being stuck on that boat the whole time however…made my situation a little uncomfortable. I knew I would need a kill during the trip, but getting it was going to be tricky. Luckily, an opportunity presented itself. Towards the end of the journey, I wash walking back from the dining area after supper when I heard yelling coming from one of the cabins. I listened closely and reached out with my mind. I found a woman in the cabin. There was a Vulpix with her. It was backed into a corner and she was kicking it while it whimpered and cried. I dove into the woman’s mind to find out what kind of person she was, and when I saw it I knew she would be mine. She was rotten; she had hurt people before. She liked causing pain. The Vulpix had belonged to a child she nannied for. But she had hurt the child when his parents weren’t around... and one night she went too far. Now she was on the run, and I found her. I closed the door behind me and went to work. Once it was done, I spent a long time cleaning the room. It was still too early to throw the remains overboard when I was done however, so I sat in the room for a few hours with Vulpix , waiting for everyone else to fall asleep. During that time the Vulpix seemed intent on winning me over. I tried to shoo her away, but she always came back, rubbing in between my feet. Finally I gave up and let her tag along. After I had dumped the body I headed back to the room with Vulpix tagging along behind. I decided to call her Amatseru.
At last, the boat arrived and the dock. It was weird walking on solid ground again. I had to wait in line to check into immigration with the others. Nathan was muttering to himself and Mike was stoic as usual. I noticed that Sean had managed to catch a Rufflet on the trip over though. The immigration check-in was annoying. I knew they would ask my name, but there was no way in hell I was giving them my real one. Luckily they didn’t push, but they did tack on an awful American surname ‘Scott’ Whatever helps me blend in I guess. I should have come up with an American name to give them instead of Ninja as well, but it slipped my mind at the time. After that they had the audacity to tell me I couldn’t use my poekemon because they were too powerful, yet they had no problem letting me carry in my weapons. Effing Americans.
Once everyone was through we headed to the local pokemon lab and met Professor Pine, a massive man who does not look like a scientist at all. There were also a couple of local guys there. Nate and Zeon. Zeon seemed sociable enough, though Nate tended to brood and plot in the corner. Come to think of it, pretty much half of the room was a downer. Nate, Mike, and Nathan all seemed to be in some kind of silent competition to see who could be the most ‘dark’ and socially awkward. I don’t know who won, but the rest of us definitely lost. I mean, I don’t know how to relate to anybody, and even I noticed. The prof. checked out our pokemon and then asked us to help him with a rodent problem he was having out back. Everyone walked back together and there we fought some Patrat. I caught one. Why not? It was something new. Ami did a great job in our battles and Faye’s Growlithe Tsume did really well too. They’ll make a good team…if Ami doesn’t act like a stuck-up little princess, which she’s prone to do. The others won their fights too, with varying levels of difficulty. During the fight Zeon and Nate began acting strangely. I noticed them colluding together while they battled, and then they pulled Nathan aside to talk to him in an ally, telling the rest of us we weren’t allowed to listen. Not suspicious AT ALL. I tried to eavesdrop psychically…but failed. My powers weren’t where they should have been…it was incredibly frustrating. I hate being this helpless. There’s so much here that’s out of my control, it’s unnerving.
I tried my best to get it out of my mind as we went to the nearest city, Bridgebay. Faye decided to turn in early there, leaving me alone with the guys…wonderful. I thought I’d be ok as long as Sean was around, but he turned in too. At least one of the Americans, Nate left as well. Still, no Faye, Zero, or Sean makes for a very uncomfortable Ninja. We checked out the Mart and then heard some people talking about pirates. Zeon said he had heard rumors about them, but the grand sum of his vast knowledge was, “I heard they exist.” Luckily, some of the locals had heard a little more. They told us that a boat carrying some of them had just pulled into the harbor. Mike and I decided to go check it out, while Zeon wandered away. I think he was off put by my comments to him. Oh well. Mike and I continued on our own.
We found the alleged pirates right where they were supposed to be. They weren’t in costume (too bad), but they definitely looked like sailors. Faded and wind torn clothes and dark tans. Surprisingly, we found them giving food to the poor. Of course, one of them was also pickpocketing the wealthier members of the crowd, but thieves will be thieves. One of those people noticed however, and started an uproar. It became clear that there was going to be a fight. I was more bemused to see what happened than anything else, but Mike wanted to help the pirates, so I pitched in as well. We battled together, but Ami’s sunlight kind of hurt Mike’s two water types, still we managed to beat three of the men and the Pirates offered us an escape route from the crowd. They paid us a bit for our trouble, and then dropped us off on the coast.
On the walk back, I talked to Mike about his plans for revenge. I offered any help he wanted. If there was anyone who was capable of helping him plan a murder it would be me. Plus, I wanted to make sure he knew I was on his side. He was as suspicious of Nate and Zeon as I was, but I didn’t want him to be tempted to join in on whatever they have planned. He said he’d let me know if there was anything I could do, and we hunted for a few wild pokemon before heading back to the city. When I got back to the PC Faye was out cold, so I just let her sleep and found a room for myself. All in all today was…strange, I’m not sure we should have left Japan. Not sure at all.

Journal: The nightmares were bad last night. Funny how we came here to get rid of them, and they’re worse than they’ve been in weeks. Being away from Faye didn’t help, but there was more to it than that. Somehow this place still feels…oppressive, and that carried over into last night’s dream. No matter what I did, I couldn’t get the upper hand in my fight with my demons. I awoke in Bridgebay in a cold sweat. It was afternoon and my blankets were wrapped in knots around me. I cleaned up, and left hoping to find Faye and Sean.
I found them outside hunting for pokemon. Faye said she needed a nap, but Sean and the others were headed back to town, so I went with them. Once we got there we heard crying coming from high up one of bridges. I distracted the guard and allowed everyone to climb up. We found a Swablu being attacked by some Murkrow. We helped it out and Sean and I caught a Murkrow while Nathan befriended the Swablu. One the way down Zeon had his Zoura transform into Faye, which was…odd. I think Sean might have actually been more upset than I was though. I just wanted to get past the man, so I distracted him while the others argued about what to do. From there we went to the gym. Sean, Zeon, and I won, while Nate and Nathan lost, Nate due to a type disadvantage and Nathan due to bad luck. The afternoon pasted incredibly slowly. I didn’t know most of these people. I talked to Sean briefly, but neither of us had much to say…I felt…very lonely, and out of my element. At least Sean seems slightly less distant then he did in Kanto, but I still missed Zero and Faye. The more time I spend here the more uneasy I feel.
Once that was done we headed to Redwood. Faye rejoined us at this point and Hakai found us as well. Faye still looked tired and was cross with Tsume on several occasions. It must be the travel lag, and America. America makes me grumpy too. In Redwood we ran across a little girl who had lost her purloin, which we had to track down. We split up to look for it, and Faye said she wanted to search alone, as did Zeon. I figured I’d just go on my own as well. I found a Pansear, but no Purlion. Hakai and Sean had better luck. They found the cat up a tree, but then we brought it down and disturbed some Pidgey. Hakai and Zeon fought to catch the Pidgetto that accompanied them, but I just wanted to get Ami some more experience. Zeon ended up catching it, being a collector, and Hakai was pretty pissed. The stupid cat ran off during the fight, so we had to go find it again. Finally we brought it back and then saw that the forest was on fire.
We ran to help and ended up smack in a nest of Larvesta. Zeon and Sean fought over the first one, but Sean ended up catching it. Faye and Zeon really had trouble catching theirs, but I caught mine on the first try. It was the best of the bunch too. It will definitely make a good complement to Ami’s fire boosting ability. We headed back to town and got a medal from the mayor before turning in. I’m still not entirely sure how I feel about Zeon, but he seemed much more agreeable today than yesterday. Faye went to sit outside, so I went to sit with her. I asked if she was okay, and admitted to being upset about the forest burning…but Sean and I had noticed before that. I know trying to get Faye to talk about her problems is like pulling teeth. Instead we just sat quietly for a while then I headed inside to find a room for us to use tonight. At this point…I’m pretty much ready to head back to Japan, with or without a cure for these nightmares.

Journal (differences): Ugh. I feel like the only thing I do in these journals anymore is complain, but nothing has gone right since I’ve come here. Today was another string of disappointments. I woke slumped against the bed in the Redwood PC. I expected to find Faye still sleeping, but she was already gone. She didn’t leave a note. I looked around for her, but there was no trace of her anywhere in Redwood. I did find some of the others though. Zeon, Hakai, Nathan, Mike, and Nate were all in town. Together we decided to see if there was any work in town. We found a local researcher looking for some escorts into a nearby cave system. We found a few wild pokemon and then some strange writing on the cave wall. Rai, the researcher, took notes while we protected him. He promised us more work later.
From there we went to challenge the gym. Sean joined us there. I went last, studying the leader’s strategy. She was tough, defeating everyone before me except Sean. I would have lost too if it wasn’t for Yuki. This was the first time I’d needed to use her in Iilac. I noticed Zeon eying her when I sent her out. He seemed interested in how strong she was. The leader was surprised too, but Yuki is nothing compared to the team I had in Kanto. After the battle Zeon asked to speak with me, out of earshot of the others, so I indulged him by sending him a mental message. He asked me to join him in some kind pf quest to rid the world of…well he wasn’t really specific. The people he deems rotten I suppose. Zeon seems bearable enough, but I wasn’t interested. I’m here only to help Faye find a cure for her nightmares. I don’t want to get drawn into some moralistic struggle for the fate of humanity, and I don’t want to be a part of another shady organization. I made that mistake once with Kitsune, I won’t make it twice. My life is my own, I will not fight unless I decide to, and I will not kill for anyone but myself. Zeon said he thought I would understand how evil and terrible people can be, and I do understand. I’m one of those people. If he really knew anything about me, he never would have asked for my help. Thankfully he let the subject drop.
After the gym we decided to take the train to Angelcoast City. Sean, Nathan, and Nate all took their leave, and Zeon, Mike, Hakai, and I pressed on. The train ride was long; taking more than three hours, but the view was pretty. The tracks ran along the coast with a wonderful view of the ocean. Still, I felt uneasy about going somewhere new. I still didn’t know what had become of Faye. I looked at the picture of her and me at the Cherry Blossom festival before we left Kanto and thought to myself. We had been happy enough then. Why leave? The dreams are terrible I know, but now I feel like I’m stuck in a waking nightmare as well, removed from my home and now even removed from Faye as well. I question if I should have fought harder to stay. Maybe there was something I could have done to stop the nightmares, rather than rely on people we don’t know and can’t find. I thought things over again and again in my head, petting Ami and staring out the window until we reached Angelcoast.
Once we were there, Mike and Zeon said they wanted to do some shopping. We got lost for a bit, but eventually found the retail district. When we arrived, we walked in on a public disturbance. There were four large people dressed completely in armor. One of them had a man bent over a barrel and was preparing to chop off his hand for thieving. I took the scene in dispassionately until the others decided they wanted to help the thief. Zeon seemed particularly impassioned. I wasn’t going to just stand around while the others battled, so I pitched in as well. Zeon and Mike battled two of the knights, while Hakai and I fought the other two. Both battles were much harder than they should have been. Mike’s Electrike and Hakai’s Charmander were both critically injured. Our battle was the most irritating encounter I’ve ever been a part of. I failed completely to do anything useful. My psychic powers, and my pokemon, are both still pathetically weak. One of the knights had a Slugma that nearly destroyed both my and Hakai’s teams. I tried to use my abilities against it, but failed. I also failed to hurt one of the knights when I flung a large stone at him with my telekinesis. Here I’m next to useless, in Kanto nothing could stand in my way. We defeated them eventually, but it was far more complicated than it needed to be.
We went to the PC. Hakai’s Charmander lived, but Mike’s Electrike didn’t. I could see he was fuming, and I didn’t blame him. Zeon and Hakai turned in, and I walked to the docks with Mike, trying unsuccessfully to calm my inner turmoil. At the harbor, Mike ran into the pirate Izzy and her captain Gabriela. Izzy seemed happy to see us again, and Mike asked to join up with them. With Izzy's recommendation, Gabriela allowed Mike to join the Golden Coast Pirates. Mike boarded the boat with the two girls and headed to sea while I decided to walk the beach for a while.
I knew I didn’t want to go back to the noise and hustle of the city, so I unrolled my sleeping bag on the beach and sent Ami out to provide some light while I write this. I also sent Whisper out. Screw their rules, he’s the closest friend I have here, and I need whatever small amount of comfort I can find tonight. I hate being this weak. In Kanto, I could have obliterated that Slugma and literally torn the knight limb from limb, armor or no. Now I can’t protect anyone. I can barely win a gym match for god’s sake. Worse, Faye seems to be growing increasingly distant. I can’t say that I blame her, I suspected this would happen eventually. I almost allowed myself to be fooled into thinking maybe I had found someone who could really accept who and what I was. Now it feels like she just can’t wait to get away…

Journal (release): Alone in the dark. Having no choice but to run. Invisible enemies behind me. All around me. Silent tormentors who I cannot fight. Oppressors weighing me down. Helpless. I can do nothing as they smother me. Crushing my chest and filling my lungs. Drowning in emptiness.
I awoke in a cold sweat on the beach near Angelcoast. Whisper was licking my face. I must have fallen asleep before returning him last night. I quickly called him back before anyone could see him out. I headed to the PC to shower and change. There I found Zeon, and Mike arrived shortly after that. Later in the morning Nathan and Nate came as well. Nate read that there was something weird going on at the radio tower in the city, so we all decided to investigate it.
We reached the area to find it blocked off by the police. Jenny wouldn’t let us through. She said that trained pokemon were attacking their owners because of a signal being broadcast through the radio tower. Mike convinced a nearby shop owner to let us through the back way. We slipped past the police and headed to the tower. We ran into a couple groups of feral pokemon on the way. Battling was tricky because our own pokemon were likely to turn on us and attack. However, I noticed that pokemon who had formed a bond with their trainer never disobeyed. Mike’s Horsea, Zeon’s Zoura, and Ami always listened. I did most of my battling with Ami. After skirting a pair of angry Emboar near the entrance to the tower, we managed to sneak in. We found several people in the control room. Nate listened in on them and mentioned something about an experiment and someone named Galahad. We laid a trap for them at the bottom of the tower. They descended without seeing us. All of the men were dressed in dark purple and red robes. They looked familiar, but I couldn’t put my finger on it. The battle was annoying. Ami was KO’d as were many of my other pokemon. I was losing again. Still too weak to even dispatch a collection of worthless grunts. Finally Zeon and I won our battle. Towards the end I flung an armchair at one of the men so hard it stabbed into his chest. That was satisfying at least. Zeon wanted to try and saved the man I impaled with the chair, so he left to take him to the hospital. Nate ordered his Pawnard to kill the remaining men. I took one aside though, and told the others to head back to the PC without me. With a whole section of empty town between me and the next closest person, I was able to take my time killing the final man. Once I was down I moved all the bodies into the area where the Emboar had been and then set them on fire to cover our tracks.
When I got back to the PC Nate turned in. Nathan had left earlier in the day, so it was only Zeon, Mike, and I. Mike mentioned hearing a rumor about people being attacked, so we asked around town until we found the area the attacks had taken place. Zeon had Aku take the shape of Nathan and walk down the street alone. An old man in an expensive suit walked up behind him. He pulled something out of his pocket and held it to his mouth, and then Aku’s illusion broke. The man seemed just as surprised by this as we did. He had clearly thought Aku was a person. Zeon restrained the man and we questioned him. He looked right at me, and said my name. He knew who I was. The way he talked was…odd. He knew something, some secret that he could barely contain. He talked all around it, nearly giddy. He told me that he was 'the harbinger of my destruction' but wouldn't elaborate. He barely even noticed when Zeon ordered his Mightyena to bite his arm. We tried to get answers from him, but he was only toying with us. When he was done playing his little game, he disappeared into a cloud of black, choking smoke. He did give us an address to investigate though.
We went to the house the man told us about and found a ritual very similar to the one I had helped stop in Kanto. They had the same blue flame candles lit. The people here were dressed in robes like the men in the radio tower. This battle went better for me. My powers were returning. I slammed one man into a wall so hard I cracked his skull. There were only three men here. Priests. Like the ones in Kanto. I didn’t need to go slow, I just wanted to release all of my pent up frustration on them. I killed them all, and it felt good. After I was done I signaled the other and we returned to the PC.
Feeling much more relaxed than I have for weeks, I found a cozy chair and sprawled across it. Mike and Zeon both had their own business to take care of, but I didn’t really care what they were doing. Zeon returned and asked me what I knew about the cult group, which wasn’t much. I left out the part about killing Giratina. He didn’t need to know that. He asked me if I was scared. I didn’t know if he meant of the cult or him, either way, the answer is a resounding ‘No.’ There are some things that scare me to death, but I’m not about to share them with someone I just met. Zeon turned in for the night and Mike returned from his walk. I was feeling good until he asked about Faye, which brought her back into my mind. He asked if I knew where she was, and I confessed I had no idea. Faye…where are you? What’s going on? Why won’t you let me help you? Mike and I decided to go look for some pokemon, but I was bothered the whole time. I couldn’t calm my mind. No wonder my powers have been off, I can’t focus with my mind in turmoil. We returned to the PC and I drifted off into an uneasy sleep, with many questions on my mind, and no one to hold onto in the darkness.

Journal (numb): Today…today was like the old days. Before. I went through the motions. I played at being human. I didn’t really feel anything.
I woke up in Angelcoast and met the others. We headed to one of the other nearby cities, Greenspring. It was surrounded by farmland, but the city itself was well kept with many upscale buildings. One of them was an all-girls boarding school. The headmistress told us they were having vandalism problems, so we split up to investigate. Mike and I found the problem to be a ditto posing as a teacher. We took care of it and then headed back. The others didn’t find anything, but Faye seemed very irritated when we rejoined their group. I guess something had happened with Zeon and Nate.
After that we helped some farmers figure out why their crops weren’t growing. It turned out that two Garbador had made a nest of scum and sludge that had poisoned the field. We beat them, but during the fight Sean almost ordered his Blastoise to use earthquake while Ami and Tsume were on the field. Luckily I called him off in time, but I don’t know what Sean was thinking. If he would have hurt Ami…things would have gotten bad. He apologized afterward, but hopefully next time he’ll think a little more.
Our next stop was a local breeding farm. They were able to teach pokemon moves that they can normally acquire by breeding. All kinds of baby pokemon roamed the farm. I thought for sure so many cute pokemon would cheer Faye up, but she barely seemed to notice them. I watched her interact with them. It seemed like she was only doing it because she thought she was supposed to. She didn’t smile once, not the whole day. Each of us picked a move to teach our pokemon. I taught Ami hypnosis.
Our final stop was the gym. It was a grass type gym. Everyone won but Faye. After she lost, she stormed outside. Mike went to check and see if she was ok. After my match I asked too, but she didn’t really want to talk about. We went to hunt some wild pokemon, and I tried to comfort her. I guess I helped. It didn’t really feel like it. I ended up complaining again when I was trying to be positive. Faye did her best to reassure me, but her comfort never made it past the surface, and she still didn’t smile. Finally we turned in for the night. I hope tomorrow will be better.

Journal (safe): I found her. Sean, Sean came looking for me. After I slipped into the darkness. When Faye left, I gave up control. Famine was waiting, he pounced as soon as she was gone. I didn’t care anymore. I gladly let him take control. He wanted to live, I didn’t. He had waited so long. I withdrew into myself, and Famine ran wild. I lost count of the bodies somewhere past thirty. Night and day. Only enough sleep to get by, only enough food to survive. I was wasting away, turning into him, and I couldn’t care less.
Sean and the others found him in an old house in Angelcoast. Black was with him. He didn’t like that. He tried to scare him away. He nearly killed Nate when Nate mentioned Faye’s name, but by then the cracks were beginning to show. I was coming alive again. I wrestled him for control. He didn’t want to give up, but my will has always been stronger than his. I resumed control. What he had done to my body…was disgusting. Still, there was no time to think about that. Faye needed help. Faye needed me.
Black led us to a house in Bridgebay. I followed as quickly as I could, but my body was in bad shape. I hadn’t eaten in days and only sheer determination got me there. He led us to a nice vacation house on the bay. We entered and found an elevator leading to a sub-basement. I recognized the trappings and the pale blue flame candles. The cult we dealt with in Kanto, the same one Zeon and I ran into a few weeks ago. I warned the others things were going to get messy. I kept my word. I killed two of the first batch of guards we saw, I would have killed the third too, if Mike hadn’t taken the man’s head off. Famine was trying to come back, he wanted back in, wanted to take over. He promised he’d do it right, and that he wouldn’t touch Faye, but this was my mission. My responsibility. My atonement.
We saw Faye fighting some more guards in a two-way mirror, Joy slaughtered them and Faye didn't seem to care. That was very unlike the Faye I knew. I grew suspicious and knew that we had to get to her quickly. I hurried down the hall and found the room where they had been, but Faye was already gone. More guards tried to stop us, and we killed them too. Finally we found a room separated from the other. I opened the doors,
And there she was.
Faye was fighting one of the cult’s leaders. He had a powerful. I was overwhelmed with a flood of emotions and my fatigue was resurging as well. Still, I couldn’t stop yet. I jumped into the fight as did the others. The man’s pokemon were strong, but we overwhelmed him with sheer numbers. Mike and Nate were beating him on badly, so I told them to back off. This man was mine. He would get no chance to beg or plead like the others. The only thing I would allow him was death. I threw him on the ground and raised my knife over my head and drove it into his chest again and again, letting the hatred and anger flow. The others probably thought I lost myself in that moment, but I remember every second of it. When I was done, all the adrenaline left and I couldn’t even make it to my feet. Sean helped me up, and suggested we leave. There was only one more thing I needed to do.
Whatever had taken control of Faye, I needed to make sure it was gone. I checked her mind and saw that it was clear. She said my name, something she hasn’t done for weeks. It was really her. We headed for the PC, leaving the house in flames behind us.
At the PC Sean mentioned moving back to Kanto for a bit. At that point I could barely stand. I just wanted to get Faye safely into a room and then pass out. I think I responded and then stumbled back into the PC.
I smiled at Faye and tired to express my overwhelming relief at seeing here ok, but I couldn't barely put together the words, in the end I just wrapped her in my arms and let my presence speak for itself. I knew I needed sleep...I was too tired to even wash the blood off my hands. I just collapsed onto the bed and let sleep consume me. Faye was safe.

Journal (afterthoughts): Today we did a few menial task. I slept for more than 18 hours straight after collapsing the night before. I showered and returned to the room to find Faye nearly in tears. I guess she must have woken up and thought I was gone. She seemed relieved to see me. We met Mike and Sean in the PC lobby and went to Redwood to help Rai. I caught a Shelgon.
After that Faye retired to the PC, I didn't want to leave her, but I was restless. I needed to stay active. Mike and I decided to head to Brightray. We found the pirate girls on their boat. They were getting ready for a raid and Mike volunteered us to help. The target was a rich merchant vessel. It was heavily guarded but the pirates knew what they were doing. We were successful, and got a nice cut from Gabriela. She offered me a spot on her crew, but I turned her down. Wasn't mine thing. I didn't mind helping Mike, but this wasn't why I was here.
I got off the boat at Bridgebay and walked form there back to Redwood where Faye was. While I walked I thought about what had happened yesterday, and about the people who had done this to us. The cult from Kanto. They did this. They used me, and worse, they used Faye. They turned her against me. I don't know how, and I don' know why yet, but my next course of action is clear:
Kill them all.

Journal (holding back): After I got Faye back there was a lot of aftermath to deal with. The remains of the force that had been controlling her was shattered in her mind and was wreaking havoc. It was hiding deep in her mind and I had to go through multiple trials to reach it. I saw a lot of things that I didn’t care to see again in there, but in the end, I found the puppet and destroyed it once and for all, finally freeing Faye’s mind once and for all. After that…we had a much needed talk. I went to sleep perfectly content, with a positive outlook on Iilac for the first time since I’ve been here.
We woke up back in the PC the next morning. Faye was still sleeping, but I woke her up and then went to get ready. We met up with the others shortly after and headed for the gym. It had been awhile since I had a match. The leader used an annoying strategy and Ami and Yuki fell both having horrible luck with their moves. I was left one more pokemon to face her Luxray. I choose Hitodama, even though I had both Littlefoot and Apollo at my disposal. I wanted to be sporting, and I paid for it. Luxray just managed to beat him and I lost. I was incredibly angry afterwards. I should have known better and just used my overpowered pokemon to guarantee the win. I left the gym and Faye did her best to comfort me though I was still upset. Tomorrow I would show no mercy. I hate losing, especially when I made such a stupid mistake. From now on, I’ll show no mercy in battle.
As we left, we heard a rumor that Vince was up to something. Vince. What a douche. Mike seemed interested in finding him though…so we asked around and ended up at the harbor. Faye spotted a suspicious man on a yacht there, and we found Vince inside. He had a girl with him, but that didn’t stop him from hitting on Faye again. I wanted nothing more than to scramble his brain right then and there, but I restrained myself. Zeon and Faye questioned him and found out that it was all a big set-up. Gabriela and her crew were busy robbing the city bind while Vince kept his ‘hostage’. Mike decided to help her and I could see that Faye and Zeon weren’t too happy about it.
We met up with Gabriela in the rich section of town and Mike agreed to help her rob the houses. Faye really didn’t want to, but in the end she consented, only for Mike’s sake. I’m glad she did too, fighting all of the pirates and Mike would not have ended well. I didn’t understand why she was so upset though. I tried to comfort her after we returned to the docks, but I didn’t have a lot to say…
We went to Greenspring next. There were some knight there who were about to burn a farmer’s field to the ground. Zeon and Mike were practically foaming at the mouth ready for a fight, and the knights were too proud to back down. They had torches and blades. I took mine down fairly easily, but Faye had trouble. The man kept trying to burn Holly with his torch, and of course Faye put herself between them. She ended up with a bad burn on her arm and could barely stand by the end of the fight. I should have been angry, but seeing the real Faye back. I guess I was happier to have her back that concerned about what she was doing. We’ll see how long that last.
I didn’t want to stay in Greenspring, so Faye, Blazard, and I walked back to Angelcoast. Faye caught a Jigglypuff which she named Frank. It made me smile. I’m at the PC right now writing this, waiting for Faye to come bac-
Ah, she’s here…

Journal (consequences): We woke up in Angelcoast after a trying but ultimately fulfilling day. I wish I could say the same for today, but ultimately, it ended somewhat off key. I guess not everyday can be perfect though.
We headed to Brightray first thing in the morning. I wanted another shot at the gym. However, once we got there, we noticed a bunch of electric pokemon wandering through town. Faye was curious, so we followed them and ended up at a manhole leading into the sewers. Some of the others were there as well, and together, we decided to check it out. The tunnels were full of electric types and we had to fight some of them off. Blazard caught an incredibly rare Charmander that the rest of us were jealous with. We followed the tunnels until they led to a strange electrically charged monolith. A group of Magnezone attacked us there, but we easily defeated them. The mayor rewarded us when we got back to town.
With that taken care of, I headed to the gym with Zeon for a rematch. Zeon won in a single move. When it was my turn I used Ami to decimate the leader’s team. She swept through all three pokemon, only taking damage once. It felt good to win so decisively.
We did a bit of shopping and training and then Mike said he wanted to go to Dustrider to deal with Berry, his brother’s killer. We flew to Dustrider and collected information at the saloon. We learned Berry was working with an outlaw group called the Banditos who were hiding away in the desert. It was tricky, but eventually we were able to find our way. There were nearly a dozen bandits and we tried putting some of them to sleep to even the odds, but still ended up out numbered. I decided it was best if I faced two of them alone. Of everyone there, I was the best prepared to fight a two on one battle. Faye disagreed though and wanted to face them herself. I said no and explained why but she still didn’t like it. In the end, I had to tell her it wasn’t opened for discussion and leapt at two of the men before she could stop me. The fight was tough, but as I suspected, I was able to get the upper hand quickly and soon evened the odds. While I was battling however, Zeon was shot in the chest and fell. Faye took him back to town and Mike and I looked for Berry.
Mike found him with a body guard holding a shotgun. I blasted the man out the back of the shack they were in, giving Mike an opportunity to fight Berry. I went to work on the guard while Mike battled. This was a perfect opportunity to let Famine out. No one would miss this guy. I cut him apart, but when it was time to take control again, Famine was reluctant to withdraw. It was harder to get back than it used to be. Famine has been…stronger, ever since he got out. He wants control badly, I can feel it.
Mike and I returned to Dustrider to find out that Zeon had survived, though his Mightyena hadn’t. Mike headed for Brightray and Faye and I found a room for the night. We talked for a bit about what’s happened over the last week. I wish I could say it was pleasant, but it wasn’t. I found out that Faye had been with us on the day that I killed those cult members. She had been in the building when Famine carved one of them up. I wasn’t ashamed of what I had done, Faye knows what Famine is like, but I felt horrible that she had witnessed it. Then we somehow got onto the topic of the battle with the bandits. Faye was still upset that I didn’t let her handle the most dangerous part of the fight. She threw something I said to her back in my face, possibly trying to get a rise out of me, but I let it go. I tried to explain why I made the choice I did. It wasn’t about her or me trying to stupidly protect her. I know Faye can handle herself in a fight, but I also know how likely she is to put herself in harm’s way. I made the call based on the situation though, and it turned out to be the right one. Still I know I probably could have been gentler. Faye’s jibe at me put me in a defensive mindset form the start however. In the end, we decided to just drop the issue rather than fight about it. Still...sometimes I think it would be better if I was different. I know it hurts her when I can’t feel anything, can’t understand. I wish there was a way to fix myself…but there’s not, and I would never pretend. Better to be honest about it. We feel asleep together, but I don’t think either of us felt as good as we had the day before.

Journal (disappointment): I guess some days are just less interesting than others. I woke up as Faye jerked out of my arms calling out my name. I thought something was wrong at first…but it had just been a particularly bad dream. She seemed reassured once she realized where we were though. We got ready and then went to Brightray and then the little village of Rockcliff.
When we got there we saw a big statue in the middle of town. A local woman told us the legend of the Rockcliff Golem that fought off an army laying siege to the island. Naturally, we went looking for it. We found an old workshop in a hidden cavern where the golem’s crafter must have worked on it. There we found the war machine lying dormant. Faye found the key and Zeon wanted to activate it. The others tried to stop him, but he said he needed it. The golem sprang to life and it and two other guardians attacked. Faye and I fought the two smaller machines while Mike, Nate, and Zeon battled the big one. I could see that Faye wanted to catch hers, but she killed it on accident. I wasn’t going to catch mine, but I could see Faye was disappointed, so I decide to give it a shot. It ended up taking FOREVER to catch. I wasted almost all of my ultra balls on the stupid thing. At least I finally caught it though, after Faye lent me one of her ultra balls. The big Golurk proved to be difficult too. It took down the others’ pokemon one after another. Zeon and Nate were so concerned about trying to catch it that they didn’t even send pokemon out to try and protect themselves. Zeon paid for it by nearly having his face smashed in. Mike finished the thing off and we took Zeon to the ER…again. He lived, but he was angry and blamed Faye for not being able to catch the Golurk. Then he got mad at us all and yelled at us. He said no one understands how it feels to lose their families, even though both Mike and Faye have witnessed their loved one’s murder. Worse, Faye was then captured by those people and used as their tool. They know what loss is, just like Zeon. Faye and Mike walked off during Zeon’s tirade and I followed them out of the PC.
We decided to check out the local fishing shop and discovered they were having a fishing contest. We decided to give it a try and found a nice little fish spot on a small, rocky island near Rockcliff. I was the first to get a good hull and I caught a Caracosta. Faye’s rod broke, so I lent her mine and flew hers back to the shop to get it repaired. I found Mike in the PC having his Draongite tended to. Faye came back soon after looking even more dejected. She told me she didn’t catch anything, so we went to the shop to collect our rewards. Mike and I got upgraded rods and I ended up helping Faye buy a good rod.
From there we went back to Angelcoast to challenge the gym. Faye went first…and lost, cementing her disappointment. I moved over to try and comfort her, though I’m not sure how much good it did. Mike and I won, as well as Zeon who rejoined us at the gym. No one seemed too interested in talking to him. I think we were all tired and a little on edge and no one felt like trying to make up. My match was very close, and I was ready for bed afterwards.
Faye and I headed back to the PC. I gave her the Golurk I caught and then decided it was time to evolve Amaterasu. I knew she wanted to. She’d been finicky and kept eying my pack ever since I got the stone. Since she did so well in the gym match, I decided to go ahead and let her. Faye was exhausted, and collapsed into the bed almost before I could even say good night. I hope she sleeps better tonight…

Journal (Successes and Failures): Today was a mixed bag. Early disappointment mixed with a few shining successes and then a feeling of disquiet at the very end, for me anyhow. The day had a decidedly more bitter ending for some of the others.
It did start out on a positive note. I woke up early this morning and flew to Brightray to do some shopping for Faye. I had some pearls and a small crystal that I had found on the beach made into a bracelet. I thought it would be a good counterpart to my own. I made breakfast before I left. I don’t think I did a very good job, but I tried. I also left Faye the picture of us from the Cherry Blossom festival, the one she had torn up when she was under the control of the puppet. I got back and gave her the bracelet, which she liked and then we headed out to meet the others.
We went to Angelcoast so Faye could re-challenge the gym. She did very well this time and managed to pull off a solid victory. Zeon found us while we were there and he and Faye made up…kind of. I didn’t want to linger, so I suggested heading out west to look for work. We met up with Nathan and Nate on the way and together we all went to Dustrider City. There we found a group of cowboys who wanted help rounding up a bunch of Tauros. We took the job…to the misfortune of some. Getting them in the pen wasn’t bad; there were three that put up a fight. Faye and I easily defeated ours, but both Nate and Nathan were gored trying to subdue theirs. Some of their pokemon were also killed. We took them back to the PC where only Nate survived. Everyone else seemed very downcast by Nathan’s death. I tried to remain somber, but I’ve only talked to him a handful of times. I’ve seen so much death, so many faceless people taken out of this world. This one didn’t seem any different than the others. I tried to comfort Faye, I knew she had been friends with Nathan, and that she’d need support. I also did my best to reassure her we could get him back. There are ways to get around death. We all should know that by now. So in the end, I didn’t see any reason to dwell on it. This was only a short absence, not a permanent loss.
I suggested moving on and the others agreed. We went to Fortuna City where we heard rumors of a hidden treasure in the desert. We headed out to look for it. We found the entrance to a temple hidden by an old church. I could only conclude that the church had been built as a cover to disguise the temple, and it had clearly been abandoned for some time, so I had no problem suggesting Faye break off a piece of the pew to make a torch. As I said at the time, “If god ever lived here, he’s moved out.”
We ventured into the temple where we faced some traps and wild pokemon. Faye was injured twice trying to help other people out of the way. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised by it after this long, but it still makes my heart skip a beat every time she does something like that. Eventually we became separated and each had to face a test. Mine was a test of perseverance. I had to push on through numerous painful obstacles with the temptation to set aside and rest was ever present. It was fairly obvious they were there to trick me, so I continued undeterred. I found Faye in the final room and together we saved Mike from drowning in a pit of sand. Zeon entered soon after and together we battled some ghost and found our reward for passing the test. On the way out we were chased by a giant boulder, but this time it was my turn to take the risk. I told the others to run and I turned to face the boulder. It was massive, but I was able to stop it and then destroy it.
After that we did some shopping and then Zeon challenged the Fortuna Gym. We both won handily and with my victory I was finally allowed to let Whisper out of his pokeball legally. I was overjoyed and so was he. He leapt out of his ball and I rubbed his head. Just running my hand through his fir lifted my spirits. Once the gym battle was done we turned in for the night. I was grinning from ear to ear, but Faye seemed upset. I wanted to share my joy with her, but my happiness just seemed to make her more upset. She barely spoke before we got into bed; even her goodnight was off. As I drifted off to sleep I just wished she would have been happy for me…

Journal (Like Old Times): My streak of good days continues. I’m almost afraid that it’s all going to come crashing down. No reason to dwell on it though. Faye and I woke up in Brightray and met the others. Sean was finally back from Kanto and I could see Faye was happy to have him around. I’m glad she has someone who can maybe relate to her with things I can’t exactly understand. My complete lack of a moral compass can be hard on her I know. It was time to try to get Nathan back, so we flew to Sienna Town at Nate’s suggestion. It was a town full of psychics removed from the rest of the world. I liked it.
There we met Madame Salam, who sent us into the mountains after Ho-oh after we promised to return and help her with a problem she was having. The trek was long and dangerous. Faye took a bad tumble, but thankfully she was ok. After hours of climbing, we found Ho-oh’s nest. It appeared before us and seemed to wait for us to tell it what we wanted.
Faye did most of the talking, pleading with Ho-oh to intercede on Nathan’s behalf. It seemed moved, but wanted to hear from all of us. I didn’t know Nathan well, or particularly care about him, but I chose my words carefully and didn’t lie. Faye and Nate spoke honestly as well and were also accepted. Sean and Mike however, failed Ho-oh’s test and were forced to leave. Once they were gone, Ho-oh sang a beautiful song. I remember being moved nearly to tears, but now I can’t even remember a single note of it…it’s really bothering me. When it’s song was over, it cried a tear into the ground and suddenly Nathan was restored. Faye hugged him and we headed back to Sienna to help Madame Salam with her problem.
She told us that some of the town’s people had fallen sick with an odd sleeping illness. She wanted to send us into the dream world to find out what was going on. We all laid down and her Mushana sent us there.
The dream world was…strange. It all made perfect sense at the time, but looking back on it…wow. I had a balloon that I was convinced was going to fly away. Faye was wearing a princess dressed which she looked adorable in. We…wandered around stupidly until Melony, Madame Salam’s granddaughter, found us. She set us straight and told us a little bit about what had been happening in the dream world. It sounded a lot like a force we had faced before. Darkrai. I wondered, Zeon and Mike seemed especially interested. Melony led us into a forest where we found one of Darkrai’s agents. A Hypno. Sean and Zeon battled it while Mike, Faye, and I took out it’s guards. Once the threat was eliminated, Melony awoke the other dreamers and we returned to the waking world. Madame Salam thanked us for our help and we headed to Dustrider for a gym battle.
Zeon lost, but Faye one fairly easily. I saw the leader used dragons, and decided it was time to bring out my big guns. I sent Whisper out for his first battle in months and he killed it. He took down both of the leaders pokemon even though they were a higher level than him. Just like old times. It made me proud to watch him in action, and I could tell he was happy to take the field again. I got my badge and Faye and I flew back to Brightray where we spent the night. We stayed up talking about the day for a long time, and I was glad Faye was feeling better. I knew last weekend had been rough on her, but she seemed recovered. I couldn’t have been happier. Hope tomorrow my luck continues…

Journal (Standard Procedure): Not a whole lot to say about today. It was relatively tame compared to yesterday, or most of our days for that matter. Faye and I woke up in Brightray and met up with the others. We went to the TM store and I picked up Toxic. There was some guy there named Indago (?). I went out of my way to introduce myself and then he decided to be a smart ass. People in this country are so rude. He tagged along with us for a bit as we went to Dustrider so the others could challenge the gym. Everyone seemed to be on and each person who challenged was able to win. I also saw that Zeon had managed to catch an Articuno, which was impressive.
From there we went to the saloon looking for work. There were some shady customers and Idago managed to piss them off by being nice. A bar fight ensued. I tried to stay out of it, but when one of the men hit Faye, well, that couldn’t stand. I tossed him about the bar a bit until he was bleeding and unconscious. He had some pokemon too, but they didn’t put up much of a fight. The others all got sucked in as well, and together we put an end to the fight.
From there we went to Fortuna where we helped some trapped miners. They were being attacked by a swarm of angry pokemon. Faye volunteered herself to venture into the mine to save them (of course), and I suggested Mike and Sean escort her while Zeon and I protected the miners at the surface. Our battles were over quickly as we efficiently took down the threats. It sounded like the others were having trouble from within the tunnel though. There was a lot of noise and at one point clouds of dust poured out of the entranceway. I was worried for Faye, but I couldn’t abandon my post. I just hoped they were all ok down there. They must have been, because they made their way back to the surface. They were covered in dirt, but they had saved the trapped miners. The crew chief paid us and then Mike, Sean, Faye, and I headed to Brightray for a nightcap.
We sat and talked about Sean’s trips to Kanto, Zero, and our plans for the future. Mike managed to drink a whole bottle of rum by himself. Sean and I had to drag him to the PC. We got him out of the bar…where he promptly threw up all over us. Disgusting. We dragged him the rest of the way there. I did the best I could to clean him up, and then dumped him off in a room. I don’t envy his morning. I tried to clean up and then headed back to the room where Faye and I turned in for the night.
