But with only one Pokemon. What should be my "starter" (any pokemon with a 3-step evolution chain)?

A dragon. Best is probably Any Ou or uber was gonna list but that was my list lol. I say dragon cuz they typically can cover plenty of attack fronts.

I might just do it with other Pokemon as well, just start with something other than a starter.

I'm using any Pokemon with a 3-step evolution as my starter, and only 5 other Pokemon as my party. My boxes will be empty. If I want a new Pokemon, I have to release another.

When I run through with just my starter it is extremely easy. When I use full 6 the exp needs to be divided so your pokemon are easier to defeat. Sure you have more but it does make it harder especially when you hit E4. But pokemon is not that hard anyway.

Ya it's weird. It just happens to be a bit more difficult and I have to do suicide runs on E4. I only use team of 6 for story too just Exp is divided then find out 1 sux against a few E4 members and so those lvls do not count against that one. It's weird but it just makes it a little tougher.

I usually have 4 in my party and 2 as HM slaves.

That's what I'm thinking.

Besides, the other 2 can barely cover their disadvantages. Poliwrath's only disadvantage would have to be a Flying/Grass type. And even then it could still be beaten with Ice Punch.
