So if you've read my Balance forum you'll notice a few people (myself included) have mentioned what a bane to the metagame SR is. So my idea is this. For at least one month, we ban the move Stealth Rock. Every battle, gym matches, city battles, random match-ups, EVERYTHING. After the a certain amount of time, we discuss the results and debate whether or not to continue the ban. If a majority of members vote it down the move stays banned on the site (similar to OHKO moves and double team).
Vote here, and PLEASE if you have a good reason for why you voted one way or another share it, but try to stay on topic...
I personally am voting for a ban, at least for a time. I think it really fits the spirit of the site and encourages people to use stuff they might not otherwise. Removing SR makes SO MANY great pokemon viable again. *cough Charizard* I'd love to see what happens.
EDIT: Austin hasn't been on for a couple days, so I haven't been able to ask him about it. Austin if you see this and don't want to do it just lock or delete this topic.

Being a trainer of steel, SR hardly effects my team. I'm indifferent. I do however use it to keep opposing fire pokemon in check, as they are my greatest foe. Without SR, I'm going to have a much harder time.

This is completely uncalled for. I'm sorry but if you are bitching about a simple move that damages upon switching; this means you also need to worry about Toxic Spikes. Toxic Spikes is just as bad, in fact, it's probably even worse then Stealth Rock. I never had any problems with stealth rock against me. I see absolutely no point in this being banned, so i'm voting no.

I honestly can't decide if I want it banned or not since I see its advantages and its disadvantages.

I see absolutely no point in this being banned, so i'm voting no. I'm not "bitching" about anything. Stealth Rock is the most over-centralized move in the game. Period. If you want to be competitive you MUST have a dedicated Stealth Rocker on your team. Throwing toxic spikes out as a counter argument is invalid. Toxic Spikes are much harder to set-up and maintain. It takes two full turns to get up a full set, and they don't have the potential to knock a pokemon down to 50% on a switch. Plus, they can be romoved simply by switching in a poison type. SR has to be removed with rapid spin, which can be blocked. Toxic Spikes, while helpful, have not become a crutch that people must rely on, SR has. Also, as I said in my first post, initially this wouldn't be a permanent ban. Do you think it's not even worth exploring. Worst case scenario it doesn't work and we go back to normal. I don't see how it's "completely uncalled for"

SR is 1 Turn for full effect. TS is 2 for full effect. Spikes is 3. You're not able to compare them. But seriously there are so many pokemon getting almost completely neglected because of it. Look at Yanmega's smogon opinion description. It says he WOULD be standard play IF not for SR. Vespiquen is pretty good but you can not even attempt to use her really do to SR. Charizard went from near standard play in R/S/E to almost no use because of SR. Moltres and Articuno are great but SR tears em apart. Those are ones you may see but highly doubt due to SR. Masquerin is pretty good too. Then there is Shedinja who is rendered almost completely Unusable because of SR. Then Plenty of pokemon get nailed for 25%. While not as bad still screws em over in general. Look at all the standard pokemon only a very select few are weak to it. Most outright resist or just take standard dmg. It is hard for some to wanna use Some pokemon because of SR. So it completely goes against use what you like. Even more so then ubers, which still do but not used to often on site tbh.

Keep it! It is a major part of my strategy and has helped me win so many battles. You do realize saying that further proves our point right? It is over centalized and it is really dumb to play competivitly without it. Which is why I say yes to banning it. Gamefreak fked up when they created SR.

SR is 1 turn and in general 12.5%. But if your pokemon is weak to rock it is worse. Spikes is not as bad cuz it is 3 turn set-up with all 3 dealing 25% and the dmg is justified by that factor.
