I still despise being a gym leader though.
I can't really use Pokemon I like when I'm restricted to these aquatic things.

Do both? Be a gym leader while also battling people with your non-gym team that you'll make.

Fortunately you're not forced to use your gym team all the time, only when officially challenged.

Right, nothing is stopping you from using a regular (legal) team to collect the badges yourself while you take challengers at the gym. As the leader, you don't have to take every challenge, as long as you're fairly active in your gym.
I'd encourage you to stay on at least until the gym leader tourney is over. Then you could step down and let one of the new people take your place.

I know, that's what I do, but I just don't like having to battle all of these people who challenge me. That along with being forced to use one type. I'm tired of my gym team and I can't really change it around without knowingly making my team weaker.
Now, if I was just a normal trainer on here I could just earn badges and battle for fun, rather than battle for "business". Plus, I kind of want to work my way up to champ.
Being the champ would mean you still get to battle, but there won't be very many people to battle you, and the one's who do get to you will be really good.
EDIT: I'll just give my gym to the runner up in the tourney.
Oh, and who keeps lowering my karma?
It was all fun and games before, but now it's just starting to piss me off.

There's all two spots in the E4 opened. I'm sure you could take one of those. Same deal as being champ. Not a lot of challengers, and the ones who do battle you will be good.

Ya I was noticing that. With each 2-3 posts you do, your Karma drops. xD And it's not me doing it if your wondering. I haven't touched any of those commands since the switch over.
