Hello everyone! I've had a busy month, but now that my English camps are done I can get down to the business of taking care of the site issues. This announcement is intended to update you guys on three things:
1) Member Purge: As you've probably noticed, I've deleted the inactive members. We're now back under 100 members, but each of those members has at least posted something. From now on, I'll be doing a bi-monthly cleaning of the site to try and keep things accurate and up to date.
2) League Positions: After weeks of waiting and discussion, the time has come to replace both Dash and Gene. Gene's E4 spot will only be opened to current gym leaders, while any member will be able to apply for a gym leader position.
Elite 4: The E4 tryouts will take place first and start immediately. If you wish to try out for the spot, please post in this thread. Gym leaders, you DO NOT have to apply for the E4 spot. If you wish to keep your gym spot that's fine. I'd still appreciate it if you posted in the thread to let me know that you're not trying out. The method of selection will be a tournament, or if we only have a few participants, a match (best of three) style battle. You do not have to use your gym team for these battles, use the best team you can put together.
Gym Leaders: The gym leader spots will be filled AFTER one of the current leaders has been promoted to the E4. This means that we will have two open gyms. Depending on how long the E4 tryouts take, the Gym Leader tryouts may be postponed until after BW are out. Also, the format for these tryouts will depend on the number of entrants. If we have a small group, we'll be using battle judges as we did last time. If we have a large group, we'll hold a tournament to decide the winners. If you want to be a leader, I suggest you start training your team now. If this ends up happening before BW, you're not going to have weeks to prepare.
To those not trying out: I strongly encourage you to advertise like crazy over the next month. We're going to have a lot going on when BW comes out, so this is the perfect time to get more people here. In addition, having two open gym spots should be a great incentive to get people to join.
3) BW info: Pokemon Black and White, the fifth generation of pokemon will be released in the US on March 6th. This will bring about quite a few changes to the site as well as tons of changes to the competitive arena. You can catch up on the information you need to know in this thread.
Miles and I will also be working together to develop the initial Ubers list for BW. Obviously this will be up for discussion once the games are out, but we have to start somewhere. Check the BW thread or the Ubers list for updates.
Leaders please take note: You MAY NOT close your gyms to train your BW teams. Use you Gen IV teams until you are completely ready to battle in BW. Then and only then, you may shift your battles to Gen V. Hopefully we're going to be getting more members around the release of BW, so we need to be up and running.
I guess that's everything. Feel free to share your opinions below or bring up anything else that needs to be taken care of. Happy February, and good luck trainers!
