I know we have a couple of threads about Pokemon Black and White floating around here, but it seems like there hasn't been a whole lot of discussion going on her recently. I thought I make this topic to try to encourage one.
We all know the BW will probably bring a lot of new features and pokemon to the game, but one thing I'm afraid of is that it will futher unbalance the game.
What do I mean? I mean the desingers somewhat frustratingly habbit of introducing new types, pokemon, or moves that centralize competitive play too much. Some examples of this would be, Stealth Rock forcing multiple types into UU based solely on their weakness to it. The only Bug and Fire pokemon in OU are ones that carry a second SR resistant type. Only the bulkiest fliers can survive, and ice is almost non-existent. Another example would be the absolute dominance of steel and dragon types. Offensively, dragon is completely unmatched, and defensively steel resist nearly HALF of the other types. Because of this it's no surprise that OU is dominated by these two types while lesser types like poison and Grass are nearly unusable.
So my question is is: What would you guys like to see changed in BW to add balance to the game? New moves? A shift in the type chart? Maybe old moves being removed? Let me know what you think.

SR should be gone. You have so many viable pokemon who just can not play to full power because the devs were stupid in move creation. Yanmega, Vespiquen, Moltres, Articuno, Charizard are all good at what they do but just get nailed to hard by SR to be truly viable options. Others that get pelted and can work are Typhlosion and such. I feel steel should lose some type resistances. I mean they won't do it but still just annoying as fk you look at every move set and fighting is listed on a great m,ajority of pokemon, only fighting for alot of em is the low accuracy annoying move that is focus blast yet People still teach itr to there pokemon. Maybe up the chance of Focus Blast hitting. Also Drizzle, Drought being on common pokemon of some sort would up the game of some pokemon due to the lowering of rain dance/sunny day hassle though not by a great deal some. I think that Maybe some ability changes would help several pokemon. Floatzel with swift swim who the fk decided that. Like seriously Floatzel is intimidating why not intimidate, He does not need Swift swim at all. Give Pachi and some other pokemon actual battle abilities. Moves that negate Type chart would be nice like a fire type move that is never not very effective against water and the like etc. I also feel we could use more special priority that would help some pokemon though plenty of special sweepers are fairly quick already, it would still help some. Need to see more balance for sure so lame that like 49 or so pokemon see such frequent use then the other s not as much. Now i understand they are to have different stats but really why the hell do so many pokemon have to have terrible stats? You can make other pokemon better but not make some terrible at the same time. Something should be done though about type chart especially in Steel and dragon department the 2 types just feel a little to Over powered imo. Pokemon like Kingdra and Scizor are an absolute Beach to take down unless your packing there 1 weakness. I have a few more thoughts they just escape me atm.

I agree that stealth rock needs to be at least nerfed, if not eliminated completely. Maybe have it only hit flying types (as they avoid spikes and toxic spikes) and only for a maximum of 1/4 damage. I'd still rather see it gone completely, but that's highly unlikely. at least limit the number of turns it stays on the field or SOMETHING. Seriously, Smogon bumped Garchomp to Ubers because it over-centralized the metagame, yet the idea of banning stealth rock hasn't even been tested. The most centralizing move in the entire game and nothing has been done about it. Also Drizzle, Drought being on common pokemon of some sort would up the game of some pokemon due to the lowering of rain dance/sunny day hassle though not by a great deal some. Yes. I want a sunny day team that's not horrible. Moves that negate Type chart would be nice like a fire type move that is never not very effective against water and the like etc. This is a really intriguing idea. I think we all know the chances of the devs alter the type chart are next to zero, but adding specific moves that behave differently could absolutely work. Make a poison move called something like corrosion and then have it hit steel super-effectively. Really good idea. I also feel we could use more special priority that would help some pokemon though plenty of special sweepers are fairly quick already, it would still help some.. I don't really want to see a whole lot more priority moves. Too many and the speed stat becomes kind of irrelevant. I'm glad they added more in Gen 4, but I don't think every type needs it's own. I'd also like to see some more special sweepers capable of taking on Blissey without exploding themselves. Again, look at the OU teir. Mostly physical attacker because Blissey just plain walls the hell out of almost every special attacker in the game.

Ya I mean just 1 or 2 special priorities for special sweepers. It is stupid for 1 pokemon to affect the it that much. My tanks as of this moment are like 4 none of which are Blissey. I do not get her popularity tbh sure she takes special attacks but she gets beat down by physical. The walls I use have good in both are great in one good in the other. Not sure what all will actually happen in BW but I really wanna see common Drought/Drizzle. Maintaining constant Rain/Sun via the moves is annoying as hell. I would also like some ability changed. Give Floatzel Intimidate as a second or something to up his game a bit. Breloom was alwayus good but they gave him poison heal and he became great.

i liked dragons even before the johto region, so i didnt pick them cause of other pokemons weakness to stealth rock.
and i agree that stealth rock shouldnt be around cause it does a good amount of damage to my flying dragons(ex: dragonite)

Yeah, Stealth Rock should be completely nerfed. It screwed up most pokemon and gave us the first non-legendary Uber. It really isn't fair to some of us who create teams based on our favorite pokemon, and it isn't fair to many strong teams. In my opinion, we need more type variety. There's way too many water types, for example, (92, to be exact) and most of them are not very useful (don't take it personally). If there was more variety in the types and in the type combinations (if water+electric is possible, why not water+fire?), then the playing field would be a bit more level, or in the very least, varied.

Yes but they also need to be useful. It seems like some of the more interesting type combos don't have the stats to compete.

They should give Posion types more type advantages. Seriously, only good against grass types....

The thing with dragons is though that a lot of people use dragons anyways whereas posion types not as much since the moves themselves aren't that strong, and they only get the advantage over grass types.

- There are not enough Ice and Fire types in Pokemon, I want to see more of that.
- A lot more poison Pokemon, more Poison attacks.
- I want to see the rival become the Champion again, just like in the old days.
- A first gym that's unique, something like Dark for example. Just no more Rock first gyms, please.
- I want to see unique legendaries. Something that has never been used before type wise.

I would like to see new type varieties. like A typhlosion learned rollout naturally is cool but Psychic types hardly ever learn moves out of their type once they've leveled up.
