Which gen has your favorite pokemon designs?

So after seeing the new pokemon from Balck and White, I realized the the designs were rather mundane. None of them really jumped out at me. I'm sure we'll get some cool designs in Gen V, but which generation of games do you think has the best looking pokemon?

I've listed the gens along with some of their stand out members. Vote for your favorite designs and then tell why you liked that gen the most.

Personally, I think Gen I and II had the overall best sprites and the fewest misses. I'd have to give the edge to Gen I though. There are so many great designs here (Gengar, Gyarados, Dragonite, etc) and only a few bad ones (Eggecute is just a pile of eggs, ditto is a pink scribble).

I thought the generation 3 pokemon really fit the region they were set in.

I never thought about this before, but that's very true. They had a much more tropical feel to them.

Gen 1 because of Mewtwo. I know I'm biased, but I can't help it

I think that As gen 4 had awesome ones like empoleon, torterra, garchomp, dialga, ect, it had bad ones like cherubi, shaymin sky forme (it looks so bad ), bidoof,
Gen 2 had a TON of the same color pokemon, such as tyranatar, where there are lines but few different colors or, well general shading. (also seen on feralagator) Gen 3 was also really cool with Sceptile, Kyogre, Groudon, Blaziken, but it had some ones that just look bad too (electrike)
