There's no rule in switching types as long as you don't use a type someone else is using or abuse the privilege. So if you got a spot and wanted to train a different team, that would be ok as long as 1) you took challengers with your old team while making the new one and 2) didn't switch types too often.

We may have to redo the badge rules though... I mean some of us do have more than 8... so would that mean that they can challenge the league without touching the newer gym leaders? or should it be so that they have to go through them to get to the current league? (this isn't applicable to me, but it should be a fully valid question for sure)

You only need 8 badges total, regardless of who you beat to get them. You can still challenge the new leaders to get their badge if you want to though.

since i'm asuming that the tryouts are starting early December, correct me if i'm wrong ninja. I'll be online for a long time of the day on December 4th, which I'm almost positive is a Saturday and i'll mostly be on at night

Actually we're trying to get this done before December. If no one is ready, then early december will be ok, but I said in the op that I wanted this to be finished before then.
