Wait a second. So if Game Freak is claiming that Arceus is the God in the Pokemon Universe. Doesn't that mean Mew is his son? According to Mews description he is the son of god. Another thing on my mind on the same subject is; why can Mew learn any move in the game, but Arceus can't? It just doesn't make any sense to me. If Arceus is GOD doesn't that mean he should be able to use ANYTHING? Since he CREATED all these attacks? It just boggles my mind.... =_=

If they do make a Gods father... Game Freaks probably going to get a lot of complaints by the highly religious people. Since everybody knows that God never had parents and he was always here. Unless this is Greek Gods we are talking about here.

Arceus is like God, while Mew has the DNA of all Pokemon. Mew is like the Adam, the ancestor of all Pokemon. Arceus on the other hand, is the creator and governing figure.

Hmm.... Good point. But it still doesn't answer my question to why Arceus can't learn any move it wants. If Arceus is god, it should be able to know anything it wants, right?

Arceus should just be able to butt rape every other Pokemon just by existing.

Maybe Arceus is the creator of everything, but after doing that, it lost most of it's power, making it barely stronger than regular Pokemon.

Any interesting theory for it's that Arceus is just the god of Sinnoh. Certainly would make it easier for GameFreak to make a new legendary to rival Arceus in gen V.

First, I can't believe this topic hasn't degenerated into a religious flame yet. Way to be able to have a fun conversation without taking it too seriously!
Addressing the issue at hand, I would think of Arceus as more of one god among a pantheon including Kyogre, Groudon, etc. Maybe Arceus would play more of a Gia role. The idea of Mew as Adam was fantastic. Kudos to whoever brought that up. You can also conclude the Mewtwo is a sort of twisted, dark god. Mankind's sorry attempt to make their own god.
I have no idea what type of legendaries will be in gen 5. maybe they'll pull from a more Asian mythology? Or Norse? How cool would an all-father or trickster god type legendary be? I suppose they could also do Titian like legedaries that are absolutely huge.
